In 2015, fashion will not be less intangible and even more open-minded as it used to be. We will find experiments in art and design – where we are questioning our everyday lifes and are searching for uncommon answers. This S/S 15 trend, Avant Pop, let’s us explore the modern Surrealism, motivates us to be a bit ironic when it comes to humor and man-made materials crave an new appearance. Global influences meet new media techniques. Texture, patterns and color are taking the lead and together they become an expressive force. Artistic influences are the center of attention. Avant Pop is mainly influenced by creative artists like Rei Kawakubo, Keith Haring, Leigh Bowery and Walter van Beirendonck.
Avant Pop brings us a bright palette, expressive patterns like pop blocking and faces are key. Easy shapes allow the details to do the talking. It has all been seen on the runway at Chanel, Prada, Preen and Moschino. They gave us a reflection of their own, unique and renewed view of Avant Pop through their designs. Personally, I’m excited about this whole color explossion of Modern Surrealism. It’s playful, self-evident, and bright. What’s your feeling about this trend? Would love to hear your thoughts… Have an amazing week!
